Management Association - SOVNET
SOVNET was founded in 1991 as a voluntary association of professionals engaged in
preparing, implementation and management of projects in different spheres of activity.
SOVNET is a public, non-profit, professional, international organization acting
according to the Russian legislation and the Association charter. The Association unites
experience, knowledge and efforts of state and public organizations, private companies,
firms, enterprises and individual specialists in the field of Project Management (PM).
SOVNET is a corporate member of:
- International Project
Management Association IPMA (Zurich, Switzerland) and
represents Russia in this organization.
- Association for International
Economic Cooperation of Investors and Constructors
(Moscow, Russia)
- Russian Innovation Association (Moscow, Russia)
SOVNET maintains business contacts with:

- Yugoslav Project Management
Association (YUPMA)

SOVNET purposes:
- Professional project
management development in Russia
- Assistance in personnel
training, education, and certification of managers
- Cooperation with scientists,
specialists, and managers in the field of project
management; exchange of experience and ideas
- Assistance in large-scale
development and practical application of modern
project management methods and tools
- Assistance in the
implementation of specific projects
- Development of international cooperation with the International Project Management
Association, its national organizations, and other foreign associations and institutes
according to the above purposes
SOVNET objectives were defined as the following:
- Providing Project Management
professional growth
- Forming the market of
professional Project Management in Russia
- Expanding the sphere of
Project Management application in Russia
- Meeting the demand for
Project Management methods and tools
- Developing the association; providing the necessary level of Project Management
services
Organization
SOVNET is headed by a Board of Directors consisting of 14 board
members (volunteers) elected for a period of 3 years.
The board is supported by a Administration as head
office. Besides, SOVNET runs its own certification
programme which is administrated by a
certification body ("SOVNET-CERT").
Membership Publications
"SOVNET News" (Russian edition) shows the latest information on seminars and
other national and international events and further
news around PM. It is not only for SOVNET members, but
for all people interested in PM and has
eight pages.
Conferences and Seminars
The International SOVNET Symposium is
organized every two year with 300 participants.
The conference in 1999 took place in Moscow. Its topic
was "Project Management: East – West at the Edge of the
Millennium".
SOVNET organizes seminars "Theory and Practice of PM" every month.
The lead Project Management specialists ñonsider main areas of PM. The achievements and
outcomes of researches are estimated. The presentations of application of PM methods and
means in activity of corporations and companies are carried out.
Certification
SOVNET-CERT the certification body of
SOVNET follows the internationally harmonised and
acknowledged certification system for project management
personnel which was developed by IPMA International
Project Management Association. According to this IPMA
Validated Four Level Certification System (4-L-C) the following
certificates are awarded:
- Level A Certificated Projects Director
"CPD"
- Level B Certificated Project Manager
"CPM"
- Level C Registered Project Management
Professional "RPMP"
- Level D Certificated Project
Management Fachmann "PMP"
